The Harmonas & Mary (Craymore) Alkire generation stands in disrepute around here, (at www.alkire.org/ <*&%^$//www.alkire.org/> ) That is because these folks have not been found in any public records, only in family records. The source for these family records is a sketch of Harry Fremont Alkire, (he was called Fremont,) in Van Cleaf's History of Pickaway Co. OH The sketch has been shown to be in error on many other points, for example, it has the Alkires there in the Valley of the South Branch of the Potomac River more than a generation before the area was settles by whites!
The sketch makes no mention of Margaret (Alkire) Hornbeck, for whom we can make a decent case from circumstantial evidence. Only Harmonas & Lydia (Patton) Alkire have descendents named Harmonas, which makes the account of his father being named Harmonas, hard to reconcile.
I have had much to say about this on the web site.
Carl
